VISUAL AND ORAL PRESENTATION
ON A PHOTOGRAPHER

 

There is a rubric for this project. You need to include:

 

VISUAL presentation (on a piece of poster board):

1) Headline with your artist's name.
2)
5 images by the artist
3)
1 page biography of the artist,
SINGLE SPACED and TYPED 12 pt font, and NO PLAGIARISM!!!
Research online and in books, but make sure the biography is all written by you. It needs to include the following:

•  basic info (birth date and location, etc.)
•  how did the photographer start taking photographs (schooling, etc.)
•  what are the important themes/ideas in their work
•  what is their style (light, dark, odd, crisp, blurry, etc.)
•  what makes them important or unique in the history of photography
•  what political/economic/historical factors influenced the work
•  list all sources used on a separate sheet (web urls and articles/books)

Half page evaluation of one of the images SINGLE SPACED and TYPED 12 pt font

•  Talk about principles and elements of design: line, shape, space, value, balance, etc.
•  Talk about the quality of light in the image.
•  Does the photo have a center of interest? What is it and why does it capture your interest?
•  Describe the mood of the work. Why does it have that mood?
•  What do you like best about the image?

5) 8x10 collage based on the photographer's work

•  similar in terms of style or in terms of the subject matter

ORAL presentation:

•  You must present the poster board and the information on it to the rest of the class

•  Presentations are 5 minutes long

•  Talk about the photographer's life, their artwork, your own personal reaction to their artwork, and the images of their work.

What I will be looking for:

•  presentation contains all the required items/information
•  poster is clean and neat
•  collage is creative
•  information in the presentation is well organized
•  spelling and grammar of text is accurate
•  presentation shows understanding of concepts or topics being depicted in the images final result represents your full potential. The oral presentation must be well organized and rehearsed.
